Holiday Lunch

Today, the boss took the group out for a holiday dinner. Armed with a $20 off coupon, she took us to Salt Creek Grill in El Segundo (or is it Manhattan Beach?). The place looked nice somewhat like a Lazy Dog Cafe. Their menu was quite small but they did have a full bar (we weren't allowed to order from there :[ )
She even took us out for dessert. It seems as if the Gelato place we went to took a 'lil phrase I like to say. :)

PS. I had the French Dip Sandwich with the garlic parmesean fries which I fully shared with my coworkers.

Five Guys

Today, mom and I ate at one of President Obama's favorite burger joints, Five Guys. It was pretty good, I don't know if I'd eat it over In-N-Out but I'd recommend it. But FYI, I didn't know the regular burger was a double stack. I'm a wimp so I like the single patty. (I'm trying to cutback!)

PS. I had the Cheeseburger and Cajun Fries. (Gotta love the free peanuts too!)

Drawing and The Grinch!

Today, I woke up in Lakewood where I slept over at M and J's new house. M made breakfast for everyone and I drew a drawing of a Black Scoter. What is that you ask?

Why this. He/She appears to have no bottom because in the picture I was looking at he was flying out of the water, which is what I tried to depict but failed. I'm particularly proud of this drawing as it actually resembles what I was drawing, also because I didn't have an eraser so any mistakes I made are left on that page. :D

Later that day, J, J, M, T, mom, and I all went down to Hollywood and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas featuring the lawyer from Night Court (JL)who played Old Max. The show was actually pretty entertaining albiet short. It reminded me alot of Aladdin from Disney's California's Adventure. The Grinch was fantastic and the crowd interaction was fun.

Being the hungry bunch that we were, we all headed back out to Eagle Rock where I finished my day at Oinksters.

PS. I had a cheeseburger and belgium fries. YUM.

The Grove

Today we went to the Grove. In what now appears to be a yearly tradition (this is year 2), we shopped, ate and took pictures in front of the tree. I don't really have any pictures to post, but M and C do. I'll put up a link if they can post it.

PS. I had brazilian. :D

Frag Out!

Let me be honest here for a bit, today I feared for my life. You see here at work, a huge bulk storage chemical tank nearly exploded. And in my area! OH NOES! So I was called onto the front line where I was ready, in full on chemical suit, gloves, and protective face shield. Armed with only a sample bottle, I winced and prayed that upon opening this valve that I wouldn't be hit with highly pressurized, burning hot caustic.

Long story short, I lived to write this thrilling write up, and the above picture was the look on my face after returning back knowing that the tank would not erupt. :o.

As a reward, I was summoned downtown to go to archives and pull some paperwork. :I However, don't fret, I was joined for lunch at T.O.T. with J to celebrate her birthday a few days early. Happy birthday J!

PS. I had the Spicy Tuna Bowl with Side Salad and Miso Soup

Pomodoro and Pinkberry

Today, a few friends came out to celebrate A's birthday at Pasta Pomodoro. It was a pretty nice and relaxed dinner with J and I trying to get the rest of the group to understand how cool a supermarket could be (That's right, I'm talking about Publix).

After dinner, I met up with C and E for a lil' yogurt. E I hadn't seen in probably a year so it was more than overdue for us to catch up. All in all, it was a busy night. Oh ya, I still went home and p90x'ed it.
Thas rite.

PS. At Pomodoro I had the half order lasagna, and at Pinkberry I had the original yogurt with white chocolate and capt'n crunch.

UP!

Today, I had the pleasure of having dinner and a movie with C. We decided to eat at Maki Maki because not only was it close to the theater, I was craving Japanese. And boy did I ever crave it.
Too Much Sushi.
UP was such a good movie by the way, I loved it. And the animated short that showed before the movie, Partly Cloudy, awesome.
Are we in 3d?
PS. We had the Sunshine Roll, Volcano Roll, Philly Roll (I know, I know), a salad and a chicken bowl. Waaaay too much food.

PS. I had the CA Flyer at Islands.

Santouka = Bloody Good Ramen.

PS. I get the #7 Toriniku (Special Pork) Ramen

Trekkie?

Surprisingly as a child, I was never into Star Trek. Even though, after watching the movie previews for this film, I had to watch it. N accompanied me for some Japanese food and some intense space action. Chocked full of action, comedy, and even an entertaining story, Star Trek provided 2 hours of awesome.

BTW: Doesn't that one girl look like Jada Pinkett Smith?

PS. I had Teriyaki Chicken and a Crunch Roll

I Should Learn My Way Around Town.

Leftovers.

Today I had dinner with N. Having a hankerin' for some french fries, we headed out to Red Robin, the home of the bottomless fries.

After proving that I have no clue most of the time where I'm driving, I learned that in Indian weddings 7 is an important number. I'll be sure to watch for things that involve the number 7 in S and V's wedding.

PS. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and fries.

Jab, Strong, Fierce

9/80 Fridays with the people I love are some of the best days a guy could ask for. It all started around 11 when we headed out to Alhambra to check out Gallery Nucleus' Street Fighter art tribute titled "Jab, Strong, Fierce".
Dhalsim and Fei Long mix it up.
Overall, the pieces were pretty cool to look at I was thoroughly impressed, but to tell you the truth, some pieces sucked. Hahaha. I just wish I was there opening night.
After the show, we all were pretty hungry. So after talking it out, and being the, "hell ya, let's do it" group that we are, we headed out to El Tepeyac in East LA.
I know, I know, those Horchata's are huge! :D
There was a short line to get in, but once inside, there was only one thing to get. The Manuel Especial. A burrito at over 5 lbs, it is the burrito to end all burritos. BTW, if you can, avoid getting guacamole there. It's expensive.
After the excruciating car ride home, I went out with R to watch R's T-Ball practice. R likes to run, hit and field with his eyes closed. He thinks it's funny. Silly kid.
Whallop.
To end our day, R, M, J, and myself endured a 2.5 hour line for the Kogi Truck. During the time, we met up with R, M, and J's old buddies.

Daytime.

Sunset.
Nightfall.
Tacos.
In the end, I couldn't get the Burrito and Sliders that I wanted so I ended up getting 4 tacos of various fillings. And they were great... just not 2.5 hours waiting in line great.
PS. We had the Manuel Especial with Carne Asada, Chips, Guacamole, and Horchatas. At the Kogi Truck, I had 4 tacos: 2 spicy pork, a spare rib, and a chicken.

More House Hunting

The houses in Midway City were really cheap, but they were not what I was looking for.
All this house hunting made me hungry, so I got what I was craving the past 2 weeks.
Mmmm... All this for $4.11.
PS. It was the 2pc chicken meal with a biscuit (I chose breast and thigh), and I ordered a side of cajun fries. :D

House Hunting and More.

After a late start to the day, J took me and J to Fuji Grill for lunch. It was awesome. Imma start going there more often.
Fuji Grill in Orange, Ca
Truthfully though, I was a lil upset that I couldn't make the art show I wanted to see in Alhambra. But I didn't let that get to me too badly as I cheered myself up a little bit by being a candy bandit. :D
Cavities.
We checked out these guys' cakes. But for a bakery, I did see a lot of packaged bread in the back. Doesn't seem like they do much baking there.
Bakery?
After we got a slice of cake, we drove back to Irvine, to rest a bit. Resting for us included a few matches between J and I in UFC 2009 for the PS3 where we both discovered that Chuck Liddell is the greatest submission fighter of our era. HAHA.
But this last too long as we headed out House Hunting! And off to Moreno Valley we went, where... we weren't too thrilled by the surrounding neigborhoods. I think I will though head back out there and check out the area near the 60 and the mall.
Moreno Valley, CA
Here I was pretty bummed. I had such high hopes for this place but it just didn't turn out the way I wished it had. So after a quick dinner at Farmer Boys, we headed home.

(Credit to: http://www.menifee247.com/)

BTW: Charging for carpool on the 91 is lame. Screw you.

PS. At Fuji Grill I had the Mini Chicken Bowl and Mini Crunch Roll. At Farmer Boys, I had the Fish and Chips Platter.

Doughnuts and Korean Food

The place looks nothing like this.
This is where it's located for anyone who cares.
How do you spell doughnut? Donut? Doughnut? Anyways, This was my 1st Randy's Doughnut. It was so delicious I forgot to take a picture of it until after I already ate half. :/ It tasted like a "church doughnut".

PS. I had the chicken breast katsu plate and the doughnut was glazed.

Villa del Sol d'Oro

I love this shot.
Today, J and J took me to see where they're going to have their wedding and their reception. So excitedly I brought my camera and took some shots.
Dragons greet you above the doorway.
Welcome.
Someone's wedding reception is being prepped.
Another shot.
The Library. The Bride Room.Stupid shadow ruined a nice shot.
I hope Villa del Sol d'Oro puts me on their website. :D HAHA.
Before heading to church, we decided to go eat at this little place called "The Only Place in Town" in Sierra Madre. The food was actually pretty good even though the service was odd. After eating I coerced the group to check out Chick's and their "store closing" sale where I picked up a few beanies at 70% off. :D

Outside "The Only Place in Town"

The church.

:D

The Blessed Virgin Mary outside the Church.

After visiting the church, we hung out with M&T for a bit and were able to relax after a long long day. But we still weren't done yet because before I knew it, it was tasting time.

The Tasting.

A blurry night shot. (I couldn't hold the camera still. :/)

BONUS PHOTOS:

PS. At the Only Place in Town I had, the Chicken Fish and Chips meal... delicious and not greasy surprisingly. For the tasting we tried lots of stuff everything is like tapas size or an amuse bouche. (Spare ribs, stuffed chicken, a curry pastry, bacon wrapped scallops, pasta, tritip, bread, stuffed mushrooms, and maybe something else. I forget.

BTW: Derrick Rose is awesome.
